"Oshun" Mixed Media on Cradled Claybord | 20"x16" |
"Oshun" is an Orisha in the Yoruba Culture, and a River Deity. She is the Goddess of femininity, intimacy, beauty and love, and is connected to destiny and divination. The peacock, which she favors, is a symbol of awakening, spirituality and awareness. Oshun revealed herself to me in meditation, and I saw her dancing around the fire wearing an orange skirt, which is why the orange became central to the painting.
The original piece is 20"x16", Acrylic and Fine Art Paper on 3/4" cradled Ampersand Claybord, with a UV Gloss finish. I included a short video of the painting her peacock feather!
Painted in January of 2021 in Green Valley, Arizona.
